This one has been on my radar since it came out, however recently picking up a switch from a family member, and then borrowing a copy of the game from another, I finally go the chance to play it. Apparently I do enjoy Metroidvanias, as I recently rolled credits for the first time on Hollow Knight. I really enjoy the power creep as you slowly get better equipment, more abilities.
One of my favorite parts of this particular game is how fast pasted it is. This contrasts with Hollow Knight and Axiom Verge, both of which are very slow passed games. The enemies are fairly easy to handle one at a time, but the game really ramps up the challenge whenever you are locked in a room with three or four different enemies, all of which have a different fighting style, and you have to keep distance from this type, while this other one performs a charging attack, thus interrupting your block on the third enemy (or maybe I am just bad at games).
It’s got some pretty obvious twists that should be seen from the beginning, but I like to turn my brain off when i’m playing these types of game. There is plenty of lore, journal entries, historical artifacts with snippets you can read.
This game has been very predictable. fairly obvious tropes and plot twists if you’re familiar with the story’s genre and character archetypes. The combat and platforming is a ton of fun for me. I was obsessed with Celeste though, so that should have been a given.
